My fabulous friend Yvonne and I ran the Rome Marathon last month (8th April). I also ran the London Marathon (22nd April). Yvonne had very kindly offered to join me in my quest to raise money for the most fantastic charity OOSO (Oxfordshire Oesophageal and Stomach Organisation). I am so blessed to have Yvonne as my friend; she has been an incredible support throughout the past year and I couldn't wait to run 26.2 miles with her!! Thank you Yvonne xx
Most of you will know that one year ago my amazing dad was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer - our world imploded with the sheer enormity of this. Looking back now it seems so much time has passed. However initially, time seemed to slow down beyond belief when waiting for various appointments, scan dates, scan results etc etc
It was my sister Clare who first discovered OOSO and I distinctly remember talking to mum and dad after they had their first meeting with Jackie. What a relief! Mum and dad seemed uplifted; they were able to spend time asking as many questions as they liked and got intelligent answers from a very experienced lady. Thank you Jackie. It wasn't just mum and dad who received this support, I have had many conversations with Jackie, contacted her via text and email at anytime of day and night and she has always responded so quickly. The work she has put in creating this charity and the comfort and support that she and her team offer to so many people is immeasurable.
Dad had his operation in August 2017. It has been a long and slow recovery but a recovery it is. I just don't know where he finds the strength at times; he has been and continues to be so incredibly brave. Love you the world Dad! Xx
